Probably the cutest thing you'll see in the internet today!

I haven't weighed Smudgy yet this week, but she's definately gotten bigger.  And, she LOVES the dogs! I mean, she loves them a lot.  She chases them around and they keep an eye on her.  I really think that she thinks she is a St. Bernard at this point.  So, be prepared to sqwee!!!

Ludo and Smudgy sleeping together today

She spends a lot of her time next to or on Ludo

She is also quite the climber

Murphy gets snuggles too
SQWEEE!
One of the few quiet moments
I will try to get a weight tomorrow.  She is still trying to nurse, so she's stuck in the bathroom still at night.  She is also really unsure of the other kitties.  We have done some brief introductions now with all three outdoor cats.  The don't really care about her at all.

Lots of pics...slacking has caught up with me

I have been slacking on posting pics...but I have a ton.  Smudgy has been nothing but adorable since we got her.  She has really established who is queen of the house.
She has taken over Ludo's couch...and he doesn't seem to care at all
We started to give her run of the house while we're here and awake.  Unfortunately, she is still trying to nurse and still can't be out and about with us while we're trying to sleep.

Ludo has actually learned to ignore her
The reality is, this is usually what's going on "behind" the scenes

She is always trying to be queen of the mountain
Smudgy has also discovered the television and computer screens.  She spent a good amount of time trying to help kill the zombies in Plants vs. Zombies the other day and helps in the endless battles of World of Warcraft.  She will actually chase just about anything and I think Max or I stop each other at least 20 times a day to say, "Look how cute she's being"
The brief moment we could get her to stay still
On the 18th, Smudgy was 1 lb, 13 oz.  I have no doubt she's grown since then, as she grows faster than I thought she would.  She's gotten big and strong enough (at about 7 weeks, we think) that we thought it might be time to introduce her to the outdoor kitties.  She's going to have to meet them eventually.  It didn't go quite as well as we thought.  She really, really hates the other kitties.
She wasn't up there long...she hissed and jumped down

Since I've been so neglectful, here's some more adorable Smudgy pics to get you through the days.  I'll do my best to post some more soon and one day, I just might actually take the lazy away and upload some adorable Smudgy videos.  Ludo really lets her wail on him and just sits there like she's a fly landing on his nose.
She's learning to be a shoulder kitty!

The face says it all.  Ludo's saying, "really, are we really doing this right now?"

This is her "Puss in Boots" look.  Don't let it fool you; She is vicious!

"Who, me?"

The tail is always a toy

She's sleeping back there

So cute!

One of the few times she's not trying to nurse.

I just can't get enough of her sleeping with Ludo

Super Smudgy

It has been an exciting weekend for Smudgy, since I returned from Vegas.  We decided we were going to let her sleep outside the bathroom.  We though she might want to snuggle up with us or something.  Well, that was a big mistake.  She wanted to jump and play and suckle! Yep, she wouldn't stop trying to nurse on Max's arms.  We would set her off the bed, she would jump back up and go to town on Max's arm.  Needless to say, Smudgy is back in the closet/bathroom when we're sleeping, for the time being.
I could tell Smudgy had grown quite a bit while I was in Vegas.  She is now 1 lb 11.1 oz.  She is also completely off formula.
I thought putting her in this bad would help keep her contained while weighing her

I was wrong.  This is the brief second she was not crawling out of the bag
Bags and wiggly kittens do not mix, oddly enough

They are not amused

Finally, able to get a weight

Smudgy is now 6 weeks old

I think her eyes are starting to change. A little green coming in.

The irregularities of a kitchen scale with a kitten in it

Smudgy has finally moved off of formula onto wet food today.  She has also discovered drinking water, although much of it ends up her nose.  Her introduction to the dogs has been going outstanding and we are pretty sure Ludo has fallen in love with her.

I R VICIOUS!

Today Smudgy was 7 lbs.  It really depended on how much she moved around in the bowl.  She is eating about 1/4 of food at a time...so I'm sure she'll have gained some weight by the end of the week.  I am off to Vegas and will be back on Friday to give the Smudgy update.

Our new kitten - Smudgy

Meet Smudgy...
Smudgy's second night with us

Smudgy was rescued by a friend on facebook from Tigard, OR.  Her mom was a stray and not healthy enough to take care of Smudgy and her brother and sister so Melissa brought her in.
I had been searching for a new kitten for my husband for some time.  It needed to be a special kitten.  Preferably black and most importantly, I wanted her to have thumbs.  You see, we used to own an amazing kitty with thumbs.  He passed a few years back and was basically irreplaceable.  It is actually how we ended up with dogs (don't worry, you'll meet them later).
I look at kittens all the time.  I check them out in Petco every time I go in and I spend hours pouring over them on petfinder. com (awesome site if you're looking to adopt).  None of the kittens or cats spoke to me, until last week when someone on facebook posted this...
Smudgy and her brother and sister

I fell in love with the little black kitten and she has thumbs!!  So, we drove the 1 1/4 to pick her up on Friday 4/5/13.  She was probably one of the smallest kittens I had ever adopted.  So tiny, in fact, we set up home for her in the bathroom because we were so concerned she would get stepped on by either us or the dogs.
Smudgy is so young that she tries to nurse when she's hungry

We waited until day two to introduce her to the dogs.  They are a little unsure of her size and her tiny meow.  They really don't know what to do with her.  She thinks she is their size and they think they are her size.
Ludo (175# Saint Bernard) meets Smudgy

Murphy (130# Saint Bernard) meets Smudgy too

Intro's are going well.  Smudgy has taken quite a few swats at their noses, but they're so big they don't seem to notice.
Part of the reason we wanted to start this blog was to document her growth.  This little girl is growing fast and has the energy of a million kittens.  We will post weigh ins and lots of fun videos, so stay tuned:
